                        1. #EventStorming has heavy impacted my career and how we collaborate to build software. This are some images of a short training we did at @CreditasTech during yesterday's internal conference #CrediCon I want to share with you some of my experiences 👇 @VaughnVernon/1522947358178234368

I discovered EventStorming during 2018, in the @IDDDWorkshop from @VaughnVernon at Barcelona. That workshop is a turning point on how I was thinking about software. Not because of DDD patterns and stuff, but because I understood what means experimentation and failure

Before the workshop, I wasn't perceiving failure as learning opportunities, I was perceiving it as "I'm a fraud, I should know better to prevent failure". DDD isn't about making it right! It's about learning fast! Here comes EventStorming

I thought that that day I understood EventStorming. I did the workshop, I collaborated, damn! Now I know! I was so wrooong! I did some sessions with people around me. Disaster results. We were trying to do things right, not learn about the things we didn't know

I thought I learned about managing failure and the importance of it. But I didn't have experience with dealing with failure nor in EventStorming. I went back to the defaults. I want to make the things right. Damn! I should know better by now.... I'm a fraud 🤥

3 years later, during 2021 I attended the workshop I just quoted from @kalele_io . Event-Driven Architectures with EventStorming for rapid innovation I learned again #EventStorming kalele.io/event-driven-architecture/

This time I had experience of all the failures. I went though all the workshop and I finished frustrated again. I was like: - Why aren't we able to make it well? I complained that day to @VaughnVernon and his response was a really waking up call. I wasn't learning.

My behavior was either Mistakes or Practices. F*CK I wasn't able to learn because how I was behaving about the outcome. I was that focused on success, and I wasn't able to learn from failures 😐

I don't recall the exacts words, @VaughnVernon, but I remember something in the lines of : "EventStorming is a complicated technique that requires years of practicing and failures to master"

After 3 years since I discovered EventStorming, and all this failures didn't let into learnings 🤦 Another turning point in my career. Learned to learn from mistakes. - They are painful and unavoidable. - And you need to be vulnerable and humble to learn from them

It's not a pleasant feeling, but there's no way around. You need to learn how to deal with those emotions. Since then, I failed on using EventStorming in unimaginable different ways, but I aimed to learn from each mistake to not repeat it again.

Today, it has been one year since I share this technique with my colleagues and during trainings and workshops, we learn together. I feel good about where failure led me to the current moment 😊 A moment that we fail together, learn together and deliver awesome products! 🧡
